In this edition of Apollo in the Spotlight, we sit down with Selcuk Cetin of Cubelog GmbH, based in Frankfurt, Germany, to explore his journey in the logistics industry. From growing up surrounded by transport and air freight to leading his own company, Selcuk shares insights on navigating complexity, building trusted global partnerships, and why adaptability is more important than ever. His perspective offers a grounded look at how modern logistics is evolving—and what it takes to stay ahead.
We’d love to hear your story – how did you get started in the logistics world, and what motivated you to stay?
I was basically born into logistics — it’s something I grew up with, so for me it always felt natural. From an early stage, I was surrounded by the industry and understood how things work, especially in transport and air freight.
Over time, it wasn’t just something I knew — it became something I really connected with. Logistics is fast, unpredictable, and sometimes challenging, but that’s exactly what keeps it interesting.
What motivates me to stay is the responsibility and the ability to build something of my own. With Cubelog GmbH, we are not just moving shipments — we are creating solutions and taking ownership from start to finish. That’s what drives me every day.
What do you see as the biggest challenge in logistics today, and how do you think the industry is handling it?
The biggest challenge right now is definitely the growing complexity. Everything is global, but at the same time more unstable than before.
You have capacity issues, price fluctuations, geopolitical topics, and customers expecting faster and more transparent solutions.
In my opinion, the industry is adapting, but not everyone is moving fast enough. The companies that stay flexible, make quick decisions, and keep strong relationships will be the ones that succeed.
Do you believe AI will replace certain logistics roles, or simply empower them? Why?
I see AI more as a tool than a replacement.
It will definitely take over repetitive tasks and make processes more efficient, which is a good thing. But logistics is still a people business.
You need experience, quick decision-making, and trust — especially when things don’t go as planned. AI can support that, but it can’t replace it.
Could you describe a difficult moment in your career that shaped the way you work today?
There were a few moments, especially with time-critical or high-value shipments where things didn’t go as planned.
One situation that really stayed with me was when responsibilities between different parties were not clearly defined. That created unnecessary risk and pressure.
Since then, I’ve learned to stay in control, keep everything structured, and make sure responsibilities are always clear. Today, I focus a lot on being proactive instead of reacting too late.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting in your line of work?
Start from the ground and really learn the business.
Don’t try to skip steps. Logistics is something you only understand properly through experience.
And most important — be reliable. In this industry, your reputation is everything.
What do you value most about being a member of our logistics network?
For me, it’s the trust and the connections.
In logistics, you depend on strong partners around the world. Knowing you have reliable people you can count on makes a huge difference, especially when handling urgent or sensitive shipments.
If you had to describe this network to a new contact or colleague in one sentence, what would you say?
A global network of trusted logistics partners you can rely on when it really matters.
What’s one thing your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?
People see me mostly in a business context — focused, direct, and always dealing with operations and decisions.
What they might be surprised about is that I actually enjoy taking risks and making fast decisions, even outside of work. I don’t overthink things too much — I trust my instinct.
I think that mindset also plays a big role in how I run the business today.
A big thank you to Selcuk for sharing his story with us in Apollo in the Spotlight. We truly appreciate your time and wish you continued success.
