Swiss WorldCargo has officially joined the transatlantic joint business agreement between Lufthansa Cargo and United Cargo, creating a powerhouse partnership that will redefine air cargo connectivity. Starting August 1, 2025, this collaboration will unlock access to over 200 U.S. destinations via Zurich, complementing the existing Frankfurt services.

Cathay Pacific experienced a rebound in air cargo volumes in June, following a slight slowdown in May, as the airline continues to restore connectivity at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). The airline carried 111,210 tons of cargo last month, marking a 6.4% increase compared to June 2022.

Senior executives at COSCO Shipping have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the strategic role of Piraeus, Greece’s largest port and a key gateway for maritime trade between Europe and Asia. During a recent meeting with a Greek journalistic delegation at the company’s Shanghai headquarters, COSCO emphasized its vision of Piraeus as a modern, international hub. The Chinese shipping giant, which has made significant investments in the port over the years, sees untapped potential for further development and plans to maximize these opportunities.

The global container shipping industry continues to expand, setting a new record for fleet capacity in 2025, according to Alphaliner. Despite a slowdown in growth compared to previous years, major players like Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and CMA CGM are still scaling up their operations, with CMA CGM surpassing the 4 million TEU capacity milestone for the first time.

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) reported a 6.5% dip in second-quarter revenue, totaling US$2.1 billion compared to the same period in 2024. This decline comes despite a 4.4% increase in liftings, highlighting the challenges posed by tariff instability and shifting market dynamics.
